Compazine (generic name prochlorperazine) and Compazine Suppository are used to treat mental disorders such as schizophrenia. Sometimes it's prescribed to treat anxiety disorders and control vomiting and nausea.
You should stop taking Compazine Suppository if you have serious side effects, such as uncontrollable spasms of your face muscles and body. Prochlorperazine can cause heart problems and pneumonia. Inform him if you have heart disease, brain tumor, intestinal blockage, glaucoma.
Don't take more amount of Compazine than it's prescribed. Since prochlorperazine has dangerous side effects overdose can be fatal.
If Compazine Suppository is too soft to insert, place it in the refrigerator for 20 minutes or run cold water over it. After that remove the wrapper, put Compazine Suppository into cold water for a second, lie down on your side, insert Compazine Suppository into the rectum and push it with your finger.
When taking Compazine Suppository on a regular basis don't double if you missed your dose. Compazine Suppository may cause dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision. Don't take alcohol during your treatment period. Compazine Suppository may affect your ability to operate mechanisms or drive a car. When taking Compazine Suppository you may become more sensitive to sun, so use sun block and protective clothing. Don't take Compazine Suppository if you are allergic to prochlorperazine medicines - Mellaril, Thorazine, Triavil or Prolixin. You have to see your doctor if taking anticoagulants such as Coumadin, antiseizure drugs (Dilantin, Tegretol), Lithium such as Lithobid or Eskalith. In most cases Compazine Suppository is not recommended for pregnant women.
